Residential heat treatments
After an initial survey at your property we plan a treatment around your home and your routine — 100% bed bug, moth or cockroach eradication, guaranteed.
Bed bugs conceal themselves very well. They're visible to the human eye but spend most of their time tucked into cracks and crevices around the room. A useful early test is sticky double-sided or carpet tape around all sides of the bed frame — it catches travelling bugs and offers some short-term relief from bites. Tightly clustered black dots near sleeping areas are typically bed bug faeces. Surprisingly, they often hide under carpets too.
These insects need to be where a host will be for an extended period. In the bedroom they emerge at night from bed frames, headboards, behind loose wallpaper, plaster cracks, wardrobes and bedside cabinets. In the lounge they favour soft furnishings and are commonly found around the arm joints of armchairs and settees.
Adult bed bugs are 4–5 mm long, wingless and uniformly mahogany brown, with prominent antennae and walking legs adapted for clinging to a host during feeding. The first warning of a growing infestation is usually being bitten. The anticoagulant in their saliva is what causes the swelling and irritation — scratching makes infection more likely. If reactions are severe, consult a doctor or pharmacist for appropriate medication.
Bed bugs are most active at night. The bug finds bare skin, inserts its feeding tube and injects saliva to prevent clotting. Left unchecked, large infestations can cause significant blood loss, though anaemia is rare.
To leave you with a fully bed bug, moth and cockroach-free home using our extreme heat technology. Because we don't use insecticides, the whole family can return to the treated areas as soon as the property has cooled.
For clients who travel frequently for work — a major risk factor for bringing bed bugs home — we can put an ongoing insect monitoring contract in place. Catching activity early stops a small problem becoming a treatment.
